Edouard Relou, Creative Director.

Uncommon Craftsmanship,
Amplified by Intelligence.

Hi, I’m Edo, a Creative Director based in Amsterdam with over 2 decades of experience. Most recently, I was the Head of Art at .Monks, leading the global art team.

I’m a big believer that the best technology is invisible. Whether I’m creating AI workflows, virtual concerts, content or games, the tech is just a tool, the story always comes first.

Being a maker at heart, means I lead teams with the perspective of someone who knows how to build things from the ground up.

I love a good challenge, especially the "impossible" ones.

Based in Amsterdam. Working globally.

ABOUT.

  • I’m an Independent Creative Director and artist who works at the intersection of craft and new technology.

For the past decade, I’ve been at the center of projects that bridge the physical and the digital, from hand-drawing pixel art for global games to architecting AI-driven films. Most recently, I served as the Head of Art at Media.Monks, leading our global art team and shaping the visual language for brands like Google, Amazon, Weber, Old Spice, Nike and Pokémon.

I’ve always believed that technology should be invisible. Whether I’m working with AR, real-time engines, or Generative AI, the goal is always the same: to protect the "human soul" of the work. If the viewer is thinking about the tech instead of the story, I haven't done my job.

  • I didn't start in a boardroom, I started with my markers and a sketchbook. Before moving into leadership, I spent years as a Art Director and visualiser. That "maker" foundation is why I’m able to lead teams today. I understand the technical hurdles of an AI pipeline, a 3D scan or a pixel-art animation because I’ve done them myself.

My approach is also quietly influenced by my past life as a teacher. It’s where I learned how to simplify complex ideas and map out narratives, skills that turned out to be surprisingly useful when designing spatial experiences like The Bookcase for Tolerance for the Anne Frank House.
